Manufactured in sterile laboratory conditions, the active ingredient in wrinkle relaxation treatment is derived from bacteria in much the same way penicillin is derived from mould.

The treatment is a prescription-only medicine and must be administered by a qualified medical professional. At My Klinik, all injectables are administered by our medical cosmetic injector.

Wrinkle relaxation treatment is a non-surgical procedure whereby a small amount of product is injected into selected facial muscles. Usually, the treatment takes around ten minutes. Discomfort is typically minimal and brief, and no anaesthetic is required. The injection may sting for a few seconds, but normal activities can be resumed soon after.

After the procedure, it takes two to three days for the treatment to begin taking effect and up to seven days to see the full results. The dose recommended for the treatment will vary depending on your individual situation and the severity of your lines. During consultation, Dr Moulos and Dr Smith will discuss with you the dosage, procedure and injection locations best suited for your desired results.

Results can last up to four months before lines begin to return and can last longer with repeat treatments.

Pre and Post-Operative Care

  • Notify Dr Moulos and Dr Smith of any medications that you are currently taking and if you have a history of cold sores. He may recommend an anti-viral medication before your treatment.
  • Do not smoke for two weeks before and two weeks after your procedure. Smoking decreases blood flow to the skin and may delay the healing process.
  • Do not drink any alcohol for two days before and two days after your procedure as it can thin the blood and increase the chance of bruising.
  • Do not take any medication that contains aspirin, or any anti-inflammatory or herbal medication for two weeks before your procedure. Aspirin thins the blood, which can result in unnecessary blood loss during your procedure.
  • Avoid chemical peels and needling for seven days leading up to your appointment.
  • If you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area 24 hours before your appointment, please call My Klinik to reschedule.
  • Immediately following your injections, your face will be cleaned. After this do not touch your face for six hours.
  • While you will be able to return to your normal routine immediately after the procedure, we recommend resting and applying an ice pack wrapped in a cloth to the injection area to minimise any swelling or bruising.
  • We recommend sleeping face up with your head slightly elevated for the first night.
  • Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for two days.
  • Avoid extensive sun or heat for three days.
  • Avoid excess alcohol or salts as these can increase the chance of swelling.
  • If required, take paracetamol for pain relief.
  • Do not undergo other facial treatments such as waxing, laser or microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment.
  • Make-up may be worn the day after the procedure.
  • Contact My Klinik if you experience any increasing pain, tenderness, bruising or other issues that appear to be getting worse.
  • You should have a review appointment after the procedure.
