A medial Thighplasty (thigh lift) reshapes the upper inner thighs by removing excess skin and fat after weight loss.
Excess loose skin around the buttocks and thighs can occur after significant weight loss. After weight loss or ageing, a lack of skin elasticity often leaves hanging pockets of skin. This can contribute to personal hygiene issues, infections and chronic rashes. Skin excess in these areas often causes chafing and discomfort.
A medial thighplasty (thigh lift) reshapes the upper inner thighs by removing the excess skin and fat. As a result, the skin is tightened affecting the contour of the inner thigh.
The length of your incision (and resulting scar), will depend on the extent of the skin laxity — the amount and location of the excess skin to be removed.
Usually, the incision extends from the fold where the groin and thigh meet, along the inner part of the thigh towards the knee. From there, the excess skin is removed under controlled tension. In some cases, Dr Lim may recommend the incision to go below the knee if there is skin excess here. Some patients may also require a horizontal incision in the groin.
Dr Lim will do his best to minimise scarring, and the location and length of your incision will be discussed with you in the consultation process.
A medial or inner thighplasty (thigh lift) may take three to four hours and is performed under general anaesthetic in an accredited hospital. You will be required to stay in hospital for one to two days following your surgery. Patients who have an inner thigh lift rarely require drains.
You may be provided with a supportive garment that will help decrease the bruising and swelling, which must be worn for a few weeks after the surgery. Dr Lim will review you post-operatively and will prescribe analgesia and antibiotics for you to continue at home.
My Klinik staff will stay in touch with you after the procedure, monitor your progress and answer any questions or concerns as they arise. You’ll have reviews with Dr Lim one week, three weeks, one month and three months after surgery.
Our goal is to make your experience as supportive as possible — Dr Lim and the My Klinik staff are always willing to answer any questions you may have.
